The short version
Cloudflare Pages connects to a Git repository, builds your project and deploys it. Direct uploads exist, but the product is designed around the Git workflow, and the dashboard, documentation and support all assume it.
sofast has one path: drag a folder in, it is live. Both run on Cloudflare’s network, so the delivery is comparable. The difference is who the interface was designed for.

Where Cloudflare Pages is the right answer
It is genuinely free for a lot of use cases. The free tier is one of the most generous in the industry, and if it fits your situation you should use it.
The network is excellent. Cloudflare’s global delivery is a real advantage, and it is not a marketing claim.
It scales into a serious platform. Workers, KV storage, D1 — if you are building something that will grow technically, that ecosystem is right there.
If you are comfortable with Git and a build configuration, this page is not trying to talk you out of it.
Updated October 2026.
Where the fit breaks
Setup assumes a repository. The intended path is: connect a Git provider, pick a repository, choose a framework preset, set a build command, set an output directory. Five decisions before anything is live, four of which are meaningless if your site is a finished folder of HTML.
The dashboard is one product among many. Cloudflare’s control panel spans DNS, security, workers, storage, caching rules, firewall settings and more. Pages is a section inside it. For someone who wants to update a portfolio, that is a very large room to walk through to reach one door.
Support is developer-shaped. The documentation is thorough and written for people who already know what a build output directory is. If you do not, the answer you need is usually adjacent to five things you do not need.
The 100-project ceiling matters for agencies. An agency running many small client sites will hit that limit, and the workarounds involve consolidating projects in ways that reduce isolation between clients.
Cloudflare Pages free limits in 2026
The Cloudflare Pages free plan is generous on traffic. Requests to static files and bandwidth are not capped. The limits sit elsewhere. According to Cloudflare’s Pages limits page (checked October 2026), the Free plan allows 500 builds per month, one build at a time, 20,000 files per site, 25 MiB per file, 100 custom domains per project and 100 projects per account.
Uploading from the browser has its own ceiling. Cloudflare’s Direct Upload docs cap dashboard drag-and-drop at 1,000 files, with 25 MiB per file. Above that, you need Wrangler, Cloudflare’s command-line tool (CLI). Our Cloudflare Pages pricing and free limits guide covers the paid plans too.
Cloudflare now says to start new projects with Workers
If you are choosing Cloudflare Pages today, know this first. Cloudflare’s Pages documentation now says “Start new projects with Workers” (updated August 25, 2026). Pages is still supported and existing sites keep running, but new features go to Workers. For a non-developer, Workers is a step further from drag and drop: the documented workflows lean on Wrangler or a Git connection. Our comparison of Cloudflare Pages vs Workers explains the shift.
Cloudflare also launched Cloudflare Drop on July 8, 2026. It publishes a folder with no account, but the site is deleted after 60 minutes unless you claim it into a Cloudflare account. Our guide to Cloudflare Drop and its limits covers what happens next.
Built on Cloudflare’s network, without the setup
sofast is not a Cloudflare product and does not run on Cloudflare Pages. It is built on Cloudflare’s network: one Cloudflare Worker serves every site, files are stored in Cloudflare R2, and custom domains go through Cloudflare for SaaS. That is why delivery speed is comparable for a static site.
What changes is everything before the site is live. You do not create a Cloudflare account, a project, a branch or a build setting. You drag your folder in, pick an address, and the site is online. Uploading a new version keeps the same address. If you were looking for a Cloudflare Pages alternative because the dashboard felt built for someone else, that is the gap sofast fills.
What you give up by choosing sofast
- A very generous free tier. Cloudflare Pages’ free plan is more generous than most, including on custom domains. sofast’s Free plan covers one site of 50 MB on a sofast subdomain, not listed on Google; custom domains start on Starter at $5 a month.
- The wider platform. No Workers, no KV, no D1. sofast serves static sites and does not aim to become an application platform.
- Git-triggered deploys. Deploying is an upload.
