12 vibe coding tools compared on what matters after the build: code export, static or server output, built-in hosting, custom domains and cost.

Short answer: The best vibe coding tools in 2026 depend on what you ship. For a landing page or portfolio, Claude, Gemini Canvas and ChatGPT write plain HTML you can host anywhere. For apps with logins and data, Lovable, Bolt.new, v0, Replit and Base44 build and host for you. Cursor and Devin Desktop (formerly Windsurf) suit people who edit code (official pages, checked September 2026).

Why the best vibe coding tools changed in 2026

Vibe coding means describing what you want in plain language and letting an AI tool write the code. The category moves fast. Windsurf’s site now says “Devin Desktop is the new name for Windsurf.” OpenAI’s release notes of May 28, 2026 say canvas is no longer available in GPT-5.5 Instant or GPT-5.5 Thinking. Lovable’s FAQ says new apps created from May 13, 2026 “use TanStack Start with server-side rendering (SSR).”

Most rankings of the best vibe coding tools stop at the build. For a designer like Julien, the harder questions come next. Can you download the code? Is the result a folder of files or an app that needs a server? Does the tool host it on your own domain, and at what cost? This comparison answers those questions for 12 tools, grouped by type rather than ranked.

How we compared these vibe coding tools

The sofast team did not run hands-on tests or benchmarks, and we assigned no scores. Every fact below comes from each vendor’s official pricing page, documentation or help center, checked September 2026 and listed in the sources. We compared six criteria that decide what happens after the build:

  1. Free plan: does one exist, and what is its main limit?
  2. Paid entry price: the lowest paid plan shown on the official pricing page.
  3. Code export: ZIP download, GitHub sync, or none.
  4. Output type: static files, a project with a build step, or a server-rendered app.
  5. Built-in hosting: can you publish from the tool, and on what address?
  6. Custom domain: included, paid, or not documented.

Output type matters most for hosting. A static site is a set of files served as-is, so almost any host can run it. A server-rendered app needs a machine that runs code on every request. Our guide to static vs dynamic websites explains the difference.

In plain terms: A build step is a command, such as npm run build, that turns project source code into plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript files.

Best vibe coding tools compared: the master table

Prices are in US dollars per month, from each official pricing page, checked September 2026. The order within each type is not a ranking. “Not documented” means the official pages we read did not state it.

Chat assistants: vibe coding tools that write plain HTML

Chat assistants are the simplest vibe coding tools for a static website. You describe the page, the assistant writes HTML and CSS, and you keep the files. Nothing depends on a backend, so any static host can serve the result.

Claude

Claude, from Anthropic, shows the code it writes in an artifact with a live preview. Anthropic lists “single-page HTML websites” among common artifacts, and artifacts work on the Free plan. Claude Pro costs $20 per month, or $17 per month billed annually (claude.com/pricing, checked September 2026). You can download the files or publish an artifact to a public link. Anthropic’s help page describes no custom domain for that link.

Hosting path: save the HTML and images in one folder and upload it to a static host. Our guide to host an HTML file and get a link covers that step.

ChatGPT

ChatGPT, from OpenAI, writes HTML, CSS and JavaScript on request, including on the Free plan. Its coding workspace changed in 2026. Since May 28, 2026, coding in GPT-5.5 happens “directly in chat responses through writing blocks and code blocks,” not in canvas. The pricing page lists Free, Go, Plus and Pro plans but displayed no dollar amounts when we checked in September 2026.

Hosting path: no website hosting is documented. Paste the code into a file named index.html, add your images, and upload the folder.

Gemini Canvas

Google says “Canvas is available for all Gemini users.” It generates web pages, apps, games and quizzes with a live preview. Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers get Gemini 3 in Canvas with a 1 million token context window (gemini.google, checked September 2026). Shared links “only open in gemini.google.com,” and documented exports go to Google Docs, Slides and Colab.

Hosting path: a share link is not a website on your own address. Copy the code into index.html and host it like any static page.

Google AI Studio (Build mode)

Google AI Studio’s Build mode lets you “vibe code” and deploy apps that use Gemini models. Web apps get “a web frontend (React is the default).” Google documents three exits: a ZIP download, two-way GitHub sync, or Cloud Run, where “pricing for Google Cloud Run may apply” (Google AI for Developers, checked September 2026). AI Studio access is part of the Gemini API free tier.

Hosting path: Cloud Run, or build the React project yourself and host the output folder.

Browser app builders: the vibe coding apps that also host

Browser app builders create full apps with logins, databases and payments. They host what they build, which is convenient until you want to move. Before you commit, check whether your plan allows code download and what type of output you get.

Lovable

Lovable builds full-stack web apps from chat, with a built-in backend (Lovable Cloud) or Supabase. Free gives 5 build credits a day, up to 30 per month. Pro starts at $25 per month for 100 credits, or $21 per month billed annually (Lovable docs, checked September 2026). Free includes Git sync with GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket. Custom domains and code download start on Pro.

The catch: new apps since May 13, 2026 use TanStack Start with SSR, which renders “each page into finished HTML on the server.” Older React and Vite projects build to a static dist/ folder. Lovable publishes to [subdomain].lovable.app with HTTPS. Our page on how to host a Lovable site covers static Vite builds.

Bolt.new

Bolt.new builds and runs full-stack web apps in the browser. Free includes 300,000 tokens a day and 1 million a month, website hosting and Bolt branding, but no custom domain. Pro costs $25 per month, starting at 10 million tokens, with a custom domain (bolt.new/pricing, checked September 2026). You can download a project as a ZIP; running it locally requires Node.js.

The catch: Bolt Cloud’s free hosting allows 10 GB of bandwidth and 333,333 requests a month, then sites go offline until the next cycle. Bolt can also publish to Netlify, but “Netlify can’t host your database or a traditional backend.” Check Netlify pricing and credits first.

v0 by Vercel

v0 is Vercel’s vibe coding platform, built on “Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and shadcn/ui.” Free includes $5 of monthly credits, 7 messages per day, Vercel deploys and GitHub sync. Plus shows $30 per user per month, with $90 struck through (v0.app/pricing, checked September 2026). The FAQ says you can “export the code to work locally.”

The catch: v0 publishes to Vercel. On the free Hobby plan, Vercel restricts use to “non-commercial, personal use only.” Our explainer on what Vercel is covers its plans.

Replit

Replit is a browser IDE (integrated development environment) with an AI agent. The free Starter plan includes “1 free published app,” which “will automatically go down after 30 days.” Core costs $20 per month, or $18 billed annually, and unlocks unlimited published apps (Replit docs and pricing, checked September 2026). You can “Download as zip” or connect GitHub.

Hosting path: Autoscale, Reserved VM, Scheduled or Static deployments. Static deployments suit “websites that don’t change based on user input.” Custom domains replace the free .replit.app address.

Base44

Base44 includes “a managed backend, authentication, integrations, and hosting.” Free gives 25 message credits and 100 integration credits a month, for up to 5 apps. Starter costs $16 per month, billed annually (base44.com/pricing, checked September 2026). Custom domains and two-way GitHub sync start on Starter, and the base44 eject command downloads the code.

The catch: Base44 docs say an ejected project gets an app ID injected into the build, so it still expects a Base44 backend. Every app gets a free myapp.base44.app address.

AI code editors and design-to-code vibe coding tools

These tools work on real project files. They suit people who want control, or designers who start from Figma.

Cursor

Cursor is “an AI-powered code editor that understands your codebase.” Hobby is free, with no credit card and “limited Agent requests.” Pro costs $20 per month, with 20% off yearly billing (cursor.com/pricing, checked September 2026). Cursor works on files on your computer, so you own the output completely. Its docs cover no hosting. Use it to fix a project exported from Lovable, Bolt or Claude, then build and upload it.

Devin Desktop (formerly Windsurf)

Windsurf’s site now redirects to Devin Desktop, “the new name for Windsurf.” It is an editor that manages “fleets of local and cloud agents.” Free costs $0 and Pro costs $20 per month (devin.ai, checked September 2026). Existing Windsurf users keep their plan and pricing. Older tutorials still use the Windsurf name. As with Cursor, the output is files, and you choose the host.

Figma Make

Figma Make is “an AI-driven, prompt-to-app tool” for turning ideas and Figma designs into apps. It is available for Full seats on paid plans, with a trial on other seats (Figma Help Center, checked September 2026). Download code gives a ZIP, and GitHub push is “one-way.” You can publish as a website with a custom domain you own. The main file is App.tsx, so an export needs a build step.

Which vibe coding tool should you pick?

Use this decision tree and stop at the first “yes.”

  1. Is it a landing page or portfolio with no login or database? Use Claude, Gemini Canvas or ChatGPT. You get static HTML you can host anywhere.
  2. Do you already design in Figma? Use Figma Make on a paid Full seat.
  3. Is it a client site the client must own? Pick a plan with code download: Claude, Bolt.new, Replit or Lovable Pro. Avoid free hosting that bans commercial use.
  4. Does the site only need a contact form? Stay static and add a form service. See our guide to form builders for static HTML sites.
  5. Is it a SaaS MVP with sign-up, database and payments? Use Lovable, Bolt.new, Base44 or Replit, on their hosting at first.
  6. Is it an internal tool or dashboard? Base44 and Replit fit that pattern.
  7. Does the app call Gemini models? Start in Google AI Studio.
  8. Do you already have code to fix? Use Cursor or Devin Desktop.

For Julien, rules 1 and 3 apply most often. For Studio Marchand, rule 3 matters most, because unbillable migration work starts when a client asks to move.

From prompt to live site: the hosting step

Every vibe coding tool ends at the same question: where does this live? The answer depends on output type, not on the brand. Our step-by-step guide on how to host a vibe coding website walks through each case.

What the tool gives youTypical toolsWhat you uploadWhere it can live
HTML file or folderClaude, ChatGPT, Gemini Canvasindex.html plus assets, often as a ZIPAny static host
Project with a build stepBolt.new, Figma Make, AI Studio, older LovableThe build output, such as dist/Any static host, if no server code
Server-rendered or full-stack appNew Lovable apps, v0, Base44Not a folder of filesThe tool’s hosting, or a host that runs Node.js

For the first two rows, our comparison of the best free static website hosting lists free options and limits. For the third row, stay on the builder’s hosting or move to a platform that runs server code.

In plain terms: SSR (server-side rendering) means a server builds each page when a visitor asks for it, so the site needs a running server, not just stored files.

Three checks prevent most failed uploads. Name the main file index.html and keep it at the folder root. Use relative image paths, like images/hero.webp. Match file names exactly, because many hosts treat Photo.JPG and photo.jpg as different files.

Risks to plan for with vibe coding platforms

Lock-in. Export rights depend on the plan: Lovable’s code download starts on Pro, and Base44’s GitHub sync starts on Starter. Backends tie you in too. Lovable says managed OAuth works only when the backend runs on Lovable Cloud.

Generated code quality. v0’s FAQ warns that output may “be incomplete or contain bugs,” or resemble other users’ output. Review what you ship. Never put API keys or passwords in front-end HTML, because anyone can read a static file.

Credits running out. Free limits are small: 5 Lovable credits a day, 7 v0 messages a day, 25 Base44 message credits a month. Bolt’s free sites go offline at the bandwidth limit, and Replit’s free app goes down after 30 days.

Commercial rules. Read our guide on whether Vercel is free for commercial use before publishing a client’s v0 app on Hobby.

Where sofast fits

sofast is not a vibe coding tool, so it is not in the comparison above. sofast is a host for what those tools export. sofast hosts static HTML sites by drag-and-drop upload: no Git, no command line, automatic SSL, and a free plan with 50 MB and a sofast subdomain, not listed on Google.

It fits the first two rows of the hosting table: HTML from Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini, or the built dist/ folder of a static project. A single HTML file works when uploaded inside a ZIP. Commercial use is allowed on Free, so a client preview is fine. Custom domains start with Starter at $5 per month billed annually ($6 monthly); see sofast pricing.

The limits are real. sofast has no build step, so you run the build yourself first. It has no server-side functions, so it cannot host SSR apps such as new Lovable projects or v0’s Next.js apps. It has no Git workflow or database, and file paths are case-sensitive. sofast is a new service, so test it on one site first.

Frequently asked questions

What are the top 3 vibe coding platforms?

It depends on the project. For full-stack apps, Lovable, Bolt.new and v0 by Vercel are the most cited browser builders, and each hosts what it builds. For static landing pages, a chat assistant such as Claude is often enough, since it writes plain HTML. For developers, Cursor is the common code editor choice. Compare output type and code export before picking, because those decide where the result can be hosted.

Which website is best for vibe coding?

For a website with no login or database, a chat assistant such as Claude, Gemini Canvas or ChatGPT is the simplest choice, because it produces static HTML you own. For an app with users and data, Lovable, Bolt.new, Replit or Base44 are built for that and host it for you. Lovable’s free plan gives 5 build credits a day, up to 30 a month (Lovable docs, checked September 2026).

What is the best free vibe coding tool?

Several vibe coding tools have usable free plans. Claude and Gemini Canvas include their HTML-producing features on free plans. Bolt.new Free gives 1 million tokens a month with hosting. Lovable Free gives 5 credits a day, and v0 Free gives $5 of credits with 7 messages a day (official pricing pages, checked September 2026). The best free choice is the one whose output you can host without paying.

Which IDE to use for vibe coding?

Cursor and Devin Desktop, the new name for Windsurf, are AI code editors built for agent-driven coding. Both have a free plan, and both list Pro at $20 per month (official pricing pages, checked September 2026). Replit is the browser-based option, with an agent and built-in deployments. Choose an IDE (integrated development environment) if you are comfortable with project files; otherwise start with a browser builder.

Is vibe coding really that easy?

Getting a first version is easy; shipping it takes more steps. Free credits run out quickly, generated code can contain bugs (v0’s own FAQ warns about this), and you still need hosting, a domain and HTTPS. The easiest path is a static page from a chat assistant, uploaded to a static host. Full-stack apps are harder to move, because they depend on the builder’s backend.

Can I host a Lovable or Bolt site somewhere else?

Often, yes, with conditions. Bolt.new lets you download a ZIP; the project needs a build step before static hosting. Lovable offers Git sync on Free and code download on Pro. Older Lovable projects build to a static dist folder, but apps created since May 13, 2026 use TanStack Start with SSR, which needs a server (Lovable docs, checked September 2026).

Do vibe coding tools include hosting?

Browser app builders usually do. Lovable publishes to lovable.app, Bolt.new to Bolt Cloud, v0 to Vercel, Base44 to base44.app, and Replit offers four deployment types. Custom domains need a paid plan on Lovable, Bolt.new and Base44 (official pages, checked September 2026). Chat assistants and code editors give you files, so you choose a separate host.

What is the best vibe coding setup for a designer?

A simple setup is one AI tool plus one host. Generate the page in Claude, Gemini Canvas or Figma Make, check the preview, then export the files. Upload the folder to a static host with automatic HTTPS, and connect your domain when the client approves. Add Cursor later if you need to fix code by hand.
